John was born in South Hill, Virginia and moved within the year to Cross City, Florida. After graduating from Dixie County High, John attended University of Florida’s Pharmacy School where he earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 1952.

John joined the Air Force and served as a pharmacist at the Wiesbaden Hospital. His primary assignment was to create a formulary for the USAF Hospital. In 1956, he purchased Orlando Pharmacy located on North Orange Avenue near Lake Ivanhoe. In 1958, the pharmacy moved to its current location on North Orange Avenue at Clay Street.

For the last 60 years, John has been active in the Florida Pharmaceutical Association, serving as President from 1972-1973 and receiving its James H. Beal award twice. He and his wife, Jane, worked diligently to enhance pharmacy as a profession, encouraging young students and professionals.

The Florida Pharmacy Foundation will remember Mr. Davies for his tireless efforts to the profession of pharmacy.
